BIOGRAPHY

I am a Professional Musician performing on Saxophone, a Band leader and a Private Instructor for Saxophone and Clarinet.

 - I lead my own Jazz groups  under the  names of: Frank Zona & Urban Edge and Frank Zona Jazz Quartet, performing at major music venues and festivals in the Southwest.

 - In 2021, presented "Heartfelt" a YouTube virtual concert. My band has opened for the Grammy winning group, Ozomatli.

 - I've released two albums: Frank Zona & Urban Edge (LIVE!), and Frank Zona & Urban Edge, "Over The Edge", which gets radio airplay locally and internationally on Internet Radio Station, Swiss Groove.

 - I'm also a private instructor for Saxophone and Clarinet with an active studio.

 - I studied Saxophone and Clarinet with NY Jazz legend Joe Manzone.  Later, studied with Dr. Ralph Athey, woodwind professor, University of Illinois, Greg Fishman, Doug Webb and The Dick Grove School of Music.

Prior to leading my own group, my sideman credits included performing in many styles: Rock, R&B, Blues , Country and Jazz, and opening for James Brown, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and The Grass Roots.

 - More recently shared the stage with Contemporary Jazz Icons: Dave Koz, Candy Dulfer, Richard Elliot and Najee.
